Estonia was accepted into International Federation of Poker
Estonian Tournament Poker Federation (ETPF) applied last week to become a member of IFP which was unanimously accepted by the board. "I am glad to welcome Estonia into international sport poker community," said IFP president Anthony Holden, who also said that IFP has 22 members along with Estonia and by the end of the year they should have 30-40 members. ETPF president Marek Reinaasi said that it is a very important point for the local sport poker development. "IFP, which was established last year, is developing very strongly and now Estonia can participate in that process," said Reinaas and was glad for Estonian poker community. As the next step IFP wants to be a member of Thinking Sport Association and a member of SportAccord, this would help to raise poker to the same level as chess or bridge. IFP president Anthony Holden said that they will participate as observers in both organisations yearly meetings already in the cmoing weeks. Biggest poker countries in the IFP are France, Germany, Great Britain and many more. Northern countries are represented by Denmark and Iceland. Only couple of weeks ago IFP accepted our neighbour, Lithuania, as a member, where poker is also a sport since March 2010. Estonian Tournament Poker Federation which was started by five pokerclubs aims at unifying poker players and representing their interests, at the same to present poker as one of worlds biggest skill game. Federation is also aiming to be a professional partner in all legal questions which revolve around poker. There are over 100 million poker players in the world, Estonia holds 30,000 of them with the population of only 1,33 million!
