When Does Playing Tight Poker Work ?

There are many different kinds of poker players. If you love to play poker then you have probably experienced reserved poker players who sit back and play the game calmly and carefully. You have also probably experienced players who are more 'in your face.' These poker players are great for putting a lot of pressure and stress into the other players or opponents.

Which of the different types of poker player would you consider yourself to be and what do you think is best ?

The truth is that both methods are great and neither is better than the other. It really all depends on what kind of personality you have and which strategy works better for you.

Reserved players typically play carefully and strategically. While they may bluff every once in a while, the truth is that most of the time they are going to play with a very good hand. They usually sit back and wait for others to bet and then use their skills to help them win the game.

So when is it great to play this type of poker ?

Well, if you've ever played in any really loose games, you know how the betting goes. The opponents are betting, raising and usually the action is pretty hot. Reserved playing is great in this sort of game because you can virtually allow the other players to make your money for you.

While this is a great way to make a lot of money very quickly, chances are you will not be in many games like this if you're playing with experienced poker players. More often you will be in games where you actually have to be a bit aggressive and make some money for yourself. When in these situations, it may be better to find a balance between playing tightly and playing 'in your face' poker.

This is what will help you win the games. That and reading what kind of opponents you are playing is what will make you the holder of the loot.

Are THEY aggressive players or reserved players?

A great poker player is able to change his or her strategy to fit what would make them the most money considering the skills and styles of the other players.

So, should you play reserved poker or aggressive poker?

It comes down to the situation. Learning how to be very good with both styles will benefit you as you continue to play poker.
