An Aggressive Way to Play Poker

Everyone who plays poker is sure to have their own strategy and different methods of playing the game. Many people have their own unique poker style and what they rely on to win. Not one of them is right or wrong, necessarily ... just different.

While there are those who stay aggressive and 'in your face,' there are also players who are more reserved and who like to stay back a bit. An aggressive style for playing the game is said to be one of the greatest ways to play. However, as successful and seasoned players know, playing insistently has its moments and playing reservedly most certainly does as well.

Mistaken Ideas about Poker

Many people have come to feel that playing too aggressively, hard-hitting or insistently is a bad thing. When new players first learn to play poker they sometimes get the wrong idea that to play aggressively, you must be 'all in all the time' This is not necessarily true. Those who play all in all the time might be doing it insistently but they are not tempering that with a super strategy or tactics. They are not just playing insistent poker.

Although aggressive players will play hard-hitting poker, they reserve that side of themselves for the correct moment in the game. Being smart and using good judgment is the key here.

Playing Insistently

When you're playing this type of poker, it's important that you appear insistent at all times, even if at the moment you're being reserved. Of course, you should know whether or not to bet and a lot of that depends on your hand and what everyone else has done.

Again, you will ask yourself if you should raise or do something else. In these times, being aggressive can really help you win the game. This is the difference between the truly insistent players and those who are not. If you can gain control of the game, do it.

The key to doing this is through betting and raising when the time is right. As you become more skilled at the game, you will know when the time is right. As you play, your opponents will see that you're being insistent and many of them will get out of the game, leaving you to take the loot.

Of course, not everyone is cut out for this type of poker tactic. There are risks that come with playing this way as well such as a higher loss if you are called. Although you will be winning larger jackpots, you also have the chance to lose larger jackpots.

The difference is this ... when you play great insistent poker, your wins will come more often than your losses.
